Dr. Sherylle J. Tan

Sherylle J. Tan, Ph.D. is an award-winning author and scholar, leadership educator and coach, and yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience in higher education, research, and non-profit consulting. I educate and empower people to grow and develop into strong and effective leaders that bring equity into society.

Scholar + Author

Dr. Sherylle Tan is the Interim Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College. As an applied psychologist, Sherylle has conducted research and published articles, chapters, and books on leadership with a focus on women, gender, and diversity. Sherylle co-authored Women and Leadership: Journey Toward Equity (with Lisa DeFrank-Cole, 2022), the 2022 Most Promising New Textbook award winner by the Textbook and Academic Author’s Association. She has served as the Chair and member of the Executive Leadership Team for International Leadership Association (ILA) Women and Leadership Community supporting leadership scholars and practitioners to advance the research and knowledge of women and leadership. Sherylle was recognized by the ILA Women and Leadership Member Community as a 2022 winner of the Outstanding Scholarship for Established Scholars Award.

Leadership Educator + Coach

As a leadership coach and educator, Sherylle cultivates a sense of engagement and creates self-awareness in leadership to help individuals to lead better, live well, and elevate themselves. She is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) who focuses on empowering people, especially women, to grow and develop into strong and effective leaders. Sherylle is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Claremont McKenna where she teaches courses in leadership and psychology. Specifically, she teaches courses on women and leadership, foundations of leadership, leadership, race, and inclusion, as well as courses in psychology. She provides workshops on a number of leadership development topics that enhance leadership.

Yoga Teacher

A yoga practitioner for over 20 years, Sherylle appreciates the beauty and benefits that yoga offers to the body and mind. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) through the Yoga Alliance and has been teaching yoga since 2014 to help others find balance and well-being through their yoga practice. She teaches vinyasa, yin, and restorative yoga.
